Project Brief
BORN was tasked with consulting ASI about their AS-IS (Current) state of assets and recommending the TO-BE state based on the UX design process. 7 assets were linked to 1 master asset and had interlinking between them. Some websites were only for customers, while others had an internal workflow as well.
The team conducted research and discovery sessions with external and internal users, as well as site visits, to better understand workflows, painpoints, needs, and goals. Personas, Empathy Maps, and User Journeys were created for each asset's internal and external users.
The research opportunities were curated inside a Feature Value Matrix (FVM) for each, and wireframes were created for 2 assets based on the features.

Experience
The project's 2.5 months were a roller coaster ride. Understanding the scope of each of the eight assets, as well as talking to users who are unfamiliar with design and research, was difficult.
Despite the fact that the topic was history (my most disliked subject), I was able to empathise with the stakeholders and comprehend their needs, goals, and frustrations, as well as the complexities of their workflows.
I had the opportunity to visit the department headquarters in Delhi for the AS-IS review presentation and present the personas, empathy maps, and user journeys to other teams and members. The overall project experience was incredible, with lots of emotions, learnings, communication, and empathy.

Current State
The project's consulting phase has been completed and is under client review. In the next phase i.e. implementation, based on the FVMs for individual assets, the team will be designing detailed high fidelity wireframes, curating content, deciding technicalities and building business strategies.
Design Impact
Based on the client's vision, stakeholders' requirements and business analysis, the creative team was able to find out opportunities for improvement and better the current user experience. Some assets will be launched newly while some will be the modifies versions of the existing websites/ portals.
Some of the impact points are:
1. Digital Transformation of the Archaeology Department
2. Opportunity Identification
3. Better workflows
4. Features based on user requirements
5. Transparent System
Learnings
This project taught me a lot about embracing ambiguity, asking the right questions, how to ship products at a scale, and providing impactful ideas & solutions. I also learned to get information about painpoints from users even when they are comfortable with the existing solution/s.
To name a few learnings:
1. Empathy
2. Discovery
3. Strategy Document
4. Personas, Empathy Maps and User Journeys
5. Feature Value Matrix
6. Wireframing
Outcomes
The biggest outcome of the project was understanding cross-functional stakeholders' complex workflows, ideas and vision in a limited amount of time and resources. In the project, I also got to lead around 4 discovery sessions and 5 interview sessions with external and internal stakeholders which enabled us and other teams to create interactive prototypes and strategy documents.
