The Problem
Project managers currently rely on a manual process to identify and resolve scheduling inconsistencies by individually reviewing project plans within the application. This approach is time-consuming, error-prone, and reactive, requiring constant user intervention. There is a need for an intelligent, AI-driven solution that proactively refines project schedules by identifying issues in the background and enabling project managers to interact through SAP Joule for faster, more accurate, and more efficient decision-making.
How might we help Project Managers to refine a project plan using SAP Joule (AI)?

"As a project manager, I want project scheduling for projects to be part of an End-to-End process (in this case Engineer-to-Order), incorporating purchasing timelines, so that I can efficiently plan and adapt project timelines."​

On the Launchpad, the Project Manager gets a Situation card mentioning the issue with the relevant details and options to directly resolve the issue with SAP Joule (AI) or do it manually using the app.

The Project Manager proceeds with resolving the issue with SAP Joule (AI).
SAP Joule (AI) provides the Project Manager with four solution options which can be applied to this particular case.
It also shows which solution option is the most used for the Project Manager to easily decide the best solution.


The Project Manager chooses solution option 1 i.e. Adjust Timeline and decides to view it in the app.

Upon clicking the highlighted object in the timeline the user understands the details of the related objects and where exactly the issue exists.
SAP Joule (AI) provides the Project Manager an option to resolve it by adjusting the timeline.

Once the user decides the resolve the issue by adjusting the timeline, SAP Joule (AI) simulates the timelines before the Project Manager can save the adjusted project plan.

When the Project Manager confirms the simulated project plan, SAP Joule (AI) saves the plan and provides a confirmation message.

Current State
This Vision Demo is set to be presented at SAP Sapphire. SAP Sapphire is SAP's annual global conference, serving as a major platform for unveiling new technologies, strategic directions, and innovations in enterprise software, with a strong focus on Business AI, cloud transformation, and integrated digital ecosystems
Using this Vision Demo the team is currently in the discovery phase of understanding different solution proposals that SAP Joule (AI) can provide the users with. The team is also interviewing Project Managers to understand their ways of project scheduling.
